Silicone S401
A one component, ready to use, acid cure silicone adhesive sealant developed for form-in-place gaskets and adhesive sealing and electrical insulating applications in manufacturing and plant maintenance. On exposure to atmospheric moisture it cures quickly at room temperature to form a tough rubber that remains permanently flexible under operating temperatures from -60˚C to +205˚C, and will tolerate short periods of 260˚C.

Good resistance to most organic and inorganic chemicals, solvents and oils. Adheres without primer to most metal, glass, ceramic, some rigid plastic, painted and wood substrates. Not recommended for use with petrol, distillate and some other hydrocarbon solvents. Suitable for incidental food contact. Excellent resistance to ozone and UV light.

    • Use in a well ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
    • The substrate surfaces must be clean, dry and sound.
    • Where adhesion is required surfaces should be solvent cleaned.
    • Cut cartridge nipple, fit and cut nozzle to desired size. Place cartridge in a Selleys cartridge gun to extrude contents.
    • For adhesive or gasketing use: Apply adhesive/sealant to one surface and mate the surfaces before skin forms. Minimum adhesive thickness should be 0.2mm. Ensure some residual external air contact to enable curing.
    • For joint sealing use: Mask adjacent surfaces. Apply sealant so that it completely fills the joint, wetting all sides. Tool immediately, forcing sealant into joint and remove masking before sealant skins.
    • For surface sealing use: Apply sealant and tool evenly to desired thickness before sealant skins.

    • CURING: Tooling time approximately 5 mins. Touch dry in 30 minutes. A 3mm thickness will normally cure and develop working levels of adhesion in 24 hours. Optimum adhesion 14 - 21 days. Section thicknesses should be limited to 6mm or less.
    • CLEAN UP: Uncured sealant can be removed with a cloth dampened with mineral turpentine or other suitable solvent. Cured sealant can only be removed by scraping or trimming with a blade.
    • STORAGE: Store unopened sealant below 27˚C in a dry area. Use within12 months of purchasing.
    • NOTE: Information on this pack is not intended to be comprehensive, nor imply any performance guarantee. Instructions should be read in conjunction with the product data sheet available from Selleys.

    • Keep out of reach of children. On contact, uncured sealantcan irritate eyes. If in eyes, flood with water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice. Avoid contact with skin. If contact occurs, wipeoff immediately and wash with detergent. May irritate sensitive skin.Avoid breathing vapours. Ensure use in a well ventilated area. Product releases Acetic Acid while curing.
